First, a little about me. Let's start with the name. I always joke that I must have put my mother through an intensive labor to wind up with a name like ‘Medorann’. Thanks, Mom. ;) Nonetheless, the pronunciation is "ma-DOOR-in", but please don't sweat it if you can't remember. You kind of need a nickname when this is your first name and so a lot of people call me ‘Maddy’. Honestly, I'm good with either! Now, let’s discuss this last name of mine. For the record, I used to be a ‘Harris’ but married a man that has a hyphenated name and, staying with the tradition that the wife takes the husband's last name, I figured what the heck … bring it on! This brings me to my family - the true joy of my life. I'm so incredibly blessed to be married to the man of my dreams, Matt, and to have two beautiful children, Matéa and Kycen. I'm quite proud of our little family so I thought I would include a couple photos so you can put faces to names. Okay, let’s get to the stuff that really matters to you - this wild and wonderful world of real estate. I started in this business back in 2007, after being convinced to get my license by my own realtor. Anne was the ‘Top Female Realtor’ with CIR and, after getting my license in May, I was incredibly lucky to be mentored by her the first three months of my career. I was completely immersed in her fire as it was the climax of the market where multiple offers where the norm. After three months, I decided I was ready to venture out on my own and finished my first full year just shy of getting the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award (still in therapy over that one as I've been known to be a wee bit competitive).
In 2012, I co-founded a Real Estate Team called DONERIGHT Realty, that I was a partner of until the Fall of 2015, at which time I decided to go out on my own again. I believe that change is good as it's easy to become stagnant in anything we do. Going back out on my own was the fuel I needed to reignite my passion for this industry. I always tell people that I love to have fun, but I also know when to be serious. My clients mean the world to me and I really do lose sleep over them as I genuinely care. I pride myself in working with honesty and integrity. There is a big ol' grey area in real estate and I just don't think it's necessary to go there. I also like to consider myself the hardest working/laid back person you'll ever meet. What the heck does that mean? It means that I'll bust my butt when you are ready to go but I won't be pulling out the cheesy salesperson lingo to try and get a deal together or to get a commitment from you to work with me.
I love the opportunity to EARN people's loyalty and trust as I believe that goes a lot further in this world than manipulating someone into signing something to commit to working with you. Things I love? Aside from life in general? I was born into an excessively tall, athletic family so basketball was inevitably a big part of my life. I suckered someone into believing I was good enough to head down to Arizona on a b-ball scholarship that quickly turned into a "cheerleading" scholarship. You know, when you are winning by 20 points and the coach looks down the bench at the least sweaty player (ahem, yours truly) and throws you into the last two minutes of the game? Yeah, that was me. I found my pride again after returning to Canada and finishing up my last three years of b-ball at the University of Regina.
Aside from any sort of challenging physical activity, my other passion is photography. It is my outlet and I love to push the boundaries of creativity. Here is my shameless plug in case you want to check it out though I should forewarn you it is not your "typical" photography. Please don't think I'm weird. Dance in the Rain Photography I hope this helps shed a bit of light on...well...me. What's much more important to me is YOU. I really am looking forward to meeting YOU. To learning about what's important to YOU and how I can help serve YOU and your family. I promise that by reaching out, you will not be suckered into any sort of commitment. I'm always happy to get together for a coffee or chat on the phone to answer any questions you might have, so please don't ever hesitate to contact me. The best journey really does lead you home and I'd be extremely grateful and humbled for the opportunity to help you get there.
