A passion for real estate runs deep for CIR REALTOR® Nadeem Rahman, who started out over twenty years ago with his family’s successful London, UK, business at age 19.
"I went on to work with the big UK consultancies including Foxtons and Knight Frank. After learning from the crème de la crème, I set up my own brokerage and gained a reputation for delivering for clients, earning the nickname King of Clerkenwell," Nadeem says with a smile.
Having moved to Canada more than ten years ago, Nadeem has lived and worked in large and small communities throughout Alberta. His success in Calgary comes down to the same thing it did in the UK: getting clients what they want.
How does he achieve that? "It’s all about groundwork," he says. "Whether they are first-time home buyers or experienced investors, I get to know them, what they want, what they need, their budget, and then I get to work."
Nadeem says he also sees clients get tripped up by décor. "I tell them, if the layout works, the neighbourhood, and the house, you can work to change the cosmetics easily enough."
Nadeem feels it’s his responsibility to educate his clients, helping them avoid pitfalls. "They depend on you, not just as their broker but as their advisor," he says. "I look after their interests, first and foremost, whether that’s keeping them from stretching their budget too far, or losing sight of resale potential, it’s my job to help clients keep perspective."
In one instance, Nadeem went so far as to offer a client his own rental apartment rent-free for a week while they waited for the deal to close on their new place. "I’ll do anything for the client," he says.
Focused on the residential market and familiar with northwest communities from Sage Hill, Simons Valley and well beyond, the easy going and friendly Nadeem has an instant rapport with clients, earning their trust for the long term.
Always going above and beyond, after each appointment Nadeem sends clients a summary of what was discussed, the properties that were viewed, and how they measured up against the wish list. "I love to listen to people, to hear their stories, problem-solve with them. Communication is key," he says.
